The Grand Valley Mathematics Association, referred to as GVMA, is a chapter of the Ontario Association for Mathematics Education (OAME/AOEM). OAME is also an affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
GVMA includes the jurisdictions represented by all or part of the counties of Brant, Bruce, Dufferin, Grey, Haldimand, Halton, Huron, Norfolk, Oxford, Perth, Waterloo, Wellington, and Wentworth.
At present, Officers and Councillors selected from the membership meet three or more times a year to plan directions for GVMA. As a volunteer organization, GVMA's goal is to promote excellence in Mathematics Education. Professional development conferences, seminars, research and publications, student competitions and scholarships assist GVMA to achieve the goals of the organization. The Association endeavours to facilitate interaction among teachers and teacher candidates at elementary, secondary and tertiary levels.
